After first half of regular season Panathinaikos remain undefeat, surviving a very thriller match against Lavrio, which still take the third position, just one victory distant from Olympiacos. Defeats for PAOK and Promitheas, while AEK and Kolossos Rhodes took important victory for play off’s area. At bottom Trikala and Panionios move their ranking in order to hope for relegation fight.

Panathinaikos literally survived after two overtime at OAKA, against a Lavrio that confirmed to deserve the third position and to be a very good team. Leaded by McKenzie Moore, helped also by 15 three pointers scored, Serelis’ team can have also some regrets, especially during first overtime, losing five points advantage at about 2 minutes to end (102-107), with Calathes, Gist and Pappas that gave the 13th seasonal victory to Panathinaikos for Esake League during second overtime, despite a tragic percentage from free throws line (23/40).

Olympiacos back solitary in second position after victory at Promitheas Patras home not without difficulties. But day seemed easy for Sfairopoulos’ team, with Spanoulis and Wiltjer that pushed the reds until 18-43 after 14 minutes. But Promitheas didn’t gave up and, thanks above all to Milosevic and Ellis try the comeback and game was almost reopened during last quarter. But Olympiacos, again with Wiltjer and Spanoulis, kept the distance at about 10 points, closing definitively the game and 1’30” to end. With a 18-6 partial score made during last five minutes Larisas/Faros conquered a huge home victory against PAOK and made an important step for ranking. Game was extremely balanced (27-26 at 10’; 49-49 at halftime; 73-75 at 30’), with both teams able to fight point by point practically until 35’ (83-83) when Schaftenaar, Bader, Papantoniou and a three pointer made by Mouratos pushed locals for decisive break, with PAOK unable to answer, and take the victory.

With huge sufference AEK back to victory, after two consecutive defeats, at Kymis home. Also in Xalkida match was extremely fought for all duration (24-18 at 10’; 42-40 at halftime; 60-56 at 30’), with locals that tried a lot of times to run away, thanks above all to MacFadden, Jones and McGee, but Sakota and Harris keep AEK everytime inside match until the thriller ending, when Mike Green gave the overtake (74-77 at 41 seconds to end). After a dunk made by McGee and 1/2 from free throw line by Harris (76-78), Kymis made a tragic 1/4 with McGee and Kyser but, after another 1/2 by Green, missed with McFadden the three pointer for win at final buzzer.

Very important victory for Kolossos Rhodes at Aris home for an crucial step inside play off’s area. Likogiannis’ team had a very good start, thanks to Griffin, Jones and Tsalbouris, and closed first half up by 14 (34-48). Aris tried a reaction from third quarter, with Maras, Bochoridis and Prewitt, back until -7 (70-77) at 2’10” to end, but three pointers made by Shizas and Harris close definitively the game. Very huge victory, the second of the season, for Panionios against Rethymno Cretan Kings after a game without story from jump ball. Indeed Cupkovic, Kravic and Sakellariou pushed locals already from third quarter (28-15 at 10’) with islanders totally outside the game and never able to be competitive. Substantially in Nea Smyrni all was closed at halftime (53-34) with Panionios that control without problems the second half, taking constantly 30 points difference between teams.

For ending very important home victory for Trikala against Koroivos for the relegation area fight. Locals had a very good start, with Tejic, Lountzis and Jones (20-8 at end of 1st), with Koroivos in very trouble at offensive phase and very early out of the game, with situation already closed at halftime (41-20). Second half haven’t story, with Trikala able to control the play without problems, keeping the difference constantly about 15 points for conquer a victory that could give huge confidence for future.
